The Battle of the Somms

 
 

A friendly competition

To create visibility for Chilean wines with high-ranking wine influentials, we turned their love of learning, travel, and competition against each other and challenged them to create pop-up Chilean wine bars during a 24-hour period.

We worked with The Guild of Sommeliers to create four teams of up-and-coming sommeliers. The team curated a list of Chilean wines, generated excitement and buzz about Chile's diverse wine portfolio, and built a wine bar in just 24 hours.

Consumer attendees voted on their favorite bar, and the winning team of sommeliers recieved a first class trip to Chile.

RESULTS:

  • Event sold out

  • Approximately 400 guests attended the event, including 28 press members, from publications such as Wine Spectator, Food & Wine, The Village Voice, Wine Enthusiast, METRO New York, and Travel & Leisure

  • The program has received over 141 million impressions, including pre- and post-event coverage in The Wall Street Journal, The Tasting Panel, Metro, Chilled Magazine and Gothamist

  • Created social engagement with 60+ of New York’s highest-ranked sommeliers
